                                                                                                                   Dated-21-11-2015

            REPORT OF GENERAL SECRETARY

It gives me great pleasure in presenting this year’s report to General Body of “CIROWA”on this auspicious day.

Our Association came into existence from the year 1989 with effort of some senior retired officers. Since then it is working continuously for the welfare of families of Coal India Retired Executives settled, mainly at Nagpur.

I take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the founders of this Noble Welfare Association. I take this opportunity to thank subsequent governing councils, who kept alive this association, by their fruitful work.

I also take this opportunity specially to express sincere gratitude to departed soul of Sri Mahip Singh and Sri K.C.Vijh, whose contribution towards well being of retired executives of CIL is well known to all members.

Main objectives of this Association has been –

1)    To keep dialogues with our  parent company  i.e. CIL & its subsidiaries regarding

welfare needs of the members and their spouses.

2)    To offer our services to help the parent company and its subsidiaries.

3)    To organize Picnics and Meetings, to promote fellowship.

4)    To promote “Contributory Post Retired Medicare Scheme” introduced by CIL

from “April – 2008” and provide administrative assistance to members.

5)    To Celebrate“Founder’s Day”every year on 14th November.

6)    Provide Helpline Setup to members.

7)    Increase Membership to widen the scope of welfare service.

8)    To help widow members by way of advices, counseling and administrative help.

9)    To promote basic demands like improvement in CIL’s Post retirement medicare

scheme for executives & their spouses.

10)         To be part of federation of all retired association operating in different cities of our country with a view to co-ordinate activities of associations and push forward

common demands with CIL authorities/central govt. like revision of pension. We are   happy to mention that our efforts  are bearing fruits.             Recently we have been able to bring all CIL officers settled at different places across the country on common plateform.

Details of the activities are given below for your kind perusal and guidance.

A)  “Members Directory”has been issued to all the  members  and is updated regularly on web site of the association at - cirowa.org

It was earlier issue free to life members but now issued actual costbasis due to price rise.

B)Since last 9 years Association has been issuing “Identity Cards” to the members, free of cost. So far we have issued more than 454“Identity Cards” to members. It has been decided to include “Adhar Card No” in Identity Card now.

C)Keeping in view the increasing expenditure of the Association it was decided to increase the “Corpus Fund” of the Association. You are kindly aware that expenditure of the Association is mainly met from the interest earned on this Corpus Fund.Association strictly limits expenses within interest earned on yearly basis. It was decided to increase Corpus Fund by –

1.    Upward revision of Life Membership for new members. It is implemented since August 2015.presently life membership amount is Rs.3000/-plus registration fee of Rs.100/-.

2.    Voluntary Donations from members. Members have been donating occasionally.

3.    To make Member Emeritus at one time payment of Rs.10,000/- This has been implemented and five members have enrolled namely, Sri C K V N Rao, Sri KumareshChatterjee, Sri AurnNarain, Sri K KSharan, Sri Deo Sharma, Sri N K Sharma.sri G.C.Mrig and sri M.K.Thapar.

D)  We have motivated members to become “Life Member” by paying Rs.3100 /- toNew Members and Rs. 2000/- to Existing Members. So far we have made about 396 Life Members. This has enabled us to increase our Corpus Fund. We again appeal to members, to become “Life Member” to enable this Association to function better.

E)   We are happy to inform you that, with efforts of the Association and existing higher authorities of CIL and its Subsidiaries, a useful “Contributory Post Retired Medicare Scheme” has been introducedby CIL management from “April 2008”. This scheme is being modified to make it more & more useful to members of this scheme.

This scheme is very popular and useful to the members. Retired Executives of CIL are joining the scheme and feeling more secured. We are greatful to the management for continuously modifying the scheme to make it more
